From Business to Design

As a data-driven User Exeprience/Product Designer with a strong business background, I am now working at @ Palo Alto Networks , After pursuing my Master’s degree in Human Computer Interaction Institute and Education technology @ Carnegie Mellon University

Previoulsy, I worked as a User Experience Designer @ TalkMeUp and @ Baidu.Inc . Before starting my UX journey since 2018, I worked as a financial consultant in @ PwC (PricewaterhouseCoopers) and @ Deloitte for about 3 years.

I enjoy creating my design within business considerations to bring people smiles and bring business value to companies.

Outside of work, I run a social media account where I share my UX learnings, design processes, and practical tips with the community. It’s become a space to reflect, grow, and connect—with over 5,000 followers and counting. (@ember and carol on Red Note)

Why Do I Shift my Career Path?

While working in PwC, I initially focused on analyzing data and the market to explore stories hidden behind.

However, I gradually realized that stories told by data might be biased. Listening intently to clients' needs is the key to ensure qualified deliveries and bring values to clients. Also, at various moments in working, I recognized that I was fully ignited by empathizing people, thinking on their behalf and solving their problems.

Having realized what I am passionate about, I changed my job to a fully customer-faced group in Deloitte and started to learn more about related fields in my spare time.

That's how I then came along HCI/UX and started my first interest-oriented project. The deeper I dive in the field, the more I know that it is where my passion lies.
